On World Environment Day, Chalantika, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Sustainable Alliance (BSA), embarked on a meaningful journey to Savar Government College for a unique printmaking workshop. The event was not just a celebration of our planet but also an action-packed initiative to inspire students to become environmental advocates through the transformative power of creative expression.
The workshop, held in tandem with the exhibition, brought a new dynamic to the day’s activities as participants not only created their art but also witnessed their work being displayed on the walls for immediate showcasing.
Chalantika and BSA share a common goal: to raise awareness about the environmental challenges we face while empowering young people to take action. In today’s world, where climate change and pollution are growing concerns, educating and inspiring the next generation is more critical than ever. This workshop at Savar Government College used printmaking as a tool to drive home the urgency of the climate crisis and the role youth can play in advocating for change.
The workshop focused on creating art with sustainable, eco-friendly materials, underscoring the theme of this year’s World Environment Day: #BeatPlasticPollution. By using recycled and reusable materials, participants learned the importance of integrating the principles of reuse, recycle, and reproduce into their creations. Each piece of art became a powerful message advocating for reducing plastic waste and promoting environmental protection.
As the students crafted their prints, these artworks were immediately showcased on the walls, turning the workshop space into a living gallery where creativity met advocacy in real time.
Chalantika believes in the power of art as activism, and this workshop provided students with the tools to become champions of sustainability. Through printmaking, these young minds explored how art can convey urgent environmental messages, turning them into creative advocates for the planet. More than just creating art, they were actively participating in a movement to promote sustainability and inspire action in their communities.
Throughout the workshop, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with experts from BSA, who served as the event’s chief guests. These environmental leaders shared their insights on pollution, waste management, and sustainable practices, further enriching the educational experience.
One of the unique aspects of this event was the live exhibition of the students’ works. As soon as each participant completed their printmaking piece, it was hung on the wall for immediate viewing, creating a dynamic environment where the art evolved throughout the day. This interactive approach allowed participants to see the tangible impact of their creativity and inspired a sense of accomplishment and pride.
On this World Environment Day, Chalantika’s workshop at Savar Government College served as a reminder that art can spark action. As the students embraced their roles as environmental advocates, the event encouraged everyone to reflect on how they can contribute to a greener, healthier planet. From reducing plastic use to participating in local environmental initiatives, every small effort counts.
This collaboration between Chalantika, BSA, and local communities marks the beginning of an ongoing effort to inspire creativity and sustainability across Bangladesh. Together, we are building a movement where art inspires change and students lead the way in protecting the Earth.
As the day concluded, the vibrant artworks created by the students stood as a testament to their newfound roles as environmental advocates. Chalantika, along with BSA, remains committed to spreading this message of art, sustainability, and action throughout Bangladesh. We wish everyone a World Environment Day filled with purpose, creativity, and a renewed commitment to safeguarding our planet.
Stay tuned for more updates as Chalantika continues to spread its message across Bangladesh, inspiring change through art, sustainability, and advocacy.
